Artistic Muses
Emilie Louise Flöge – Muse for Gustav Klimt
Edie Sedgwick – Muse for Andy Warhol
Pablo Picasso’s Muses
Kiki de Montparnasse – Muse for Man Ray. Kiki is especially relevant as she was erased from collective memory at some point due to her self-emancipation and autonomy during a time when women were not encouraged to do this.
Gala Diakonova – Wife and Muse for Salvador Dalí
Gwen Verdun – Muse for Bob Fosse
Addie LaRue as a Muse
Addie figured out a loophole in the bargain she made with Luc – even though people cannot remember her, they can occasionally be inspired by her through art or music. This takes persistent work on Addie’s part, but over time (of which she has an infinite amount) she almost haunts artists’ minds with her presence. Addie as a muse appears in eight different artistic pieces throughout the book, one for each section, but the artist never captures her. At most, her constellation of seven freckles is evoked, and at best she is referred to as a dream.
